An old and traditional hayloft situated on the Bellunesi Dolomites has been given new life after a skilful and meticulous renovation, in which the MOBART BEN collections played an essential part.
The owners, conforming to the structure’s original architecture, have kept the exposed roof girders and selected made to measure furnishing solutions, combined with several designer pieces.
For the kitchen, a horseshoe composition was devised, centrally positioned, in a modern and extremely minimal style. Almost embracing the composition, on two sides, is a snack counter featuring a considerably thick top and a structure with differing widths of horizontal slats, completely made of old wood recovered from ancient haylofts, suitably hand cleaned of splinters and impurities and finished with natural oils giving a“velvet” effect, to moisturise it and to guarantee its waterproofing.
For the bookcase that perfectly sets the stage for a reading corner, old, restored and treated wood was used. The structure consists of three full-height supporting vertical elements, bearing the see-through open-backed shelves, with exposed contrasting white wall and illuminated by a concealed, flush led strip in the plasterboard above.
Completing the composition is the slanting wall of the dining area, which follows the roof slope, separating the technical compartment in the loft, also done in old wood, with horizontal slats in various widths, complete with a flush-fitting retractable door. Next to the fireplace and contrasting with its finish, is a tailor A low cabinet with sliding doors, likewise in recovered wood, proposed here in a hazelnut shade, was studied for the lower sloping part of the living area, following the slope of the double-T shaped beam above. For the top, sheet metal with a “Foil Blue” finish was chosen, recalling the material and finish of the beam, with the latter being connected to the cabinet by horizontal-slatted buffering panelling, complete with led lighting.
